Now, that's called team work!!!

Today, I had an amazing experience. I never had thought that I would be able to view and observe team work and leadership together at such close quarters. What happened was: I had to come to Majestic (The bus station of Bangalore) and catch the bus. There are three buses from Majestic to Infy. One of the normal buses (Regn # 2598) had not come. Instead of that, another bus, whose driver was not familiar with Infy routes and Infy pick up methods, was assigned. I climbed a bus (Regn # 3376) as I had heard that this bus driver drives fast and safe. The buses started, ours first and the new one second. B4 we left, an instruction was given to the new one to follow our bus, stop wherever our bus stopped, pick up ppl whomever our bus sent to it and continue following our bus to the Infy campus. At each stop where we had to pick up our colleagues, our bus stopped, asked the employees who were standing there in the pick up point to board the bus coming behind. Our bus driver did not bother abou...

A Brush with death

Last night, I just missed being crushed under the wheels of the Infy Bus in which I was travelling. I could not sleep just coz of this. The way it happened is as follows: I called up my neighbour by 19:05. We spoke normally. I told her that today might actually be one of the happiest days of my life. It did become so... One of my past desires was that something unexpected should happen to me which inflicts a lot of pain as well as some sort of psychotic pleasure too. Our bus took an unusually long time to reach our place. I was stressed out at work and had slept almost all the way back home. I was quite awake when we were near Rajajinagar. We had an unwanted traffic Jam on the way from Industrial Town to Basaveshwaranagar Circle. When the bus approached the Basaveshwaranagar Circle, I went and stood at the door of the bus. I was holding one of the bars on the door. I slipped on the first step (the topmost one) and just coz I was holding one of the bars, I ended up having an inch of my ...

Jobs and Jobhopping!!!

I found this link in another blog which I go through almost every day (Youth Curry) . This link is of the same blogger, but this has been published in Rediff.com. It is the Job Hoppers Guide. This article is very interesting. I'll be giving the link to my colleagues and I'd suggest any person who reads my blog to go through this link. Rashmi has also given many other articles to Rediff.com, many of which, have been sent out as e-mails earlier. As an employee, I always used to crib (even now, I do) about the postings and the managers decision. This view of mine , I somehow don't like to go against my own views. I have individually approached my managers and team leads to get to know where I am lacking and Y I am not being given a growth. Since I did not get any satisfactory answers, I ended up assuming things that the manager plays favorites with ppl who speak Hindi or ppl who end up being close to her...in any matter you feel. This view was backed up by a mail which I recei...

Lousy Jobs!!!

I was, as usual, surfing in the blognet, that I got this blog relating to jobs being lovely or lousy. This is a very interesting article which takes the results of a survey and mentions that in Britain, more and more jobs are becoming lousier, which is against the views of the economists who mention that the jobs are becoming lovelier. I'd say that a job being lousy or lovely depends on the individual. Each job would be lousy or lovely for each individual. I am employed in a BPO and when I joined the office, I felt that this is the best job on earth. Then, as time passed, I thought that I need to change my job and my present job, thus, became lousy for me. I asked my manager for a movement and currently, I am in a project of Software Testing. This job is very interesting and I can learn lots from this. I am currently in a frame of mind which says that this is the job to be, the job of the future. Mind you, these two fields are the most sought after fields in the industry currently....

An interesting conversation

I was chatting with a colleague of mine who's in the night shift. We exchanged a few good views. Here are some of them. What's important in life? Money or Health? The age old saying goes that Health is Wealth. When you are young, in the prime of your youth, health does not matter. Your health would be in your hands and you can twist around and play with it however you want. She was complaining about working inthe night shift. I would not mind any shift that I am put into as long as I have some work to do and spend my hours productively. There is a visible difference of Rs. 800/- per month if you work in the night shifts. I am not sure if the pay has been revised or not. When I was in the night shifts (more than 7 months back, that's the difference I was noticing. Day shift the shift allowance is 400/- while in the night shift, it is 1200/-. I felt that as there is ample amount of work in the night.... (This is a BPO and the client is US Based) if you get an amount of 800/- ...

WOW!!! I'm not alone

Things are moving for the better for me.... One, I am alone in my house... and as of today, I think Mom is going to come only after a week...So, one weekend of being alone... Too good. Two. I spoke to my neighbour and we interacted with smiles and winks, went out for a walk (of course with her mom, but it was fine). Three, I found this posting on a blog which reflects my own sentiments (but in the views of a female). Last but not the least, I achieved doing something which I had only dreamt of for a very long time. That was a very small thing for anyone else, but it really has given me a boost of confidence. I also found out that bloggers are present in Mysore too... My hometown, which I usually considered to be a sleepy town w/o much action, w/o much life in it. Yet, that is my hometown, my favorite holiday destination, the town which hosts my only friends (Rangarajan, Kishan and Madhu). I dunno, somehow, 'm interested in explicit things...from poetry to stories, to pics to movi...

Love...My comments (Update)

Here I go again...it happens the third time for me.... People tell me that they love me...they like me...and then ditch me and live me in dire straits. It is true that once bitten twice shy...twice bitten and third time shameless... What about thrice bitten??? Habit (part of life!!!) I recollect a dialogue from the movie DDLJ. "Mrs Lucy theek hi kehti hai...aadaten agar waqt mein badli naa jaaye toh zarooraten ban jaati hain" - Chutki (Rajeshwari) to her Mom b4 the introduction of the main characters. My experience of the first time has been told earlier. I had actually added the second time experience there too...but deleted it fearing someone. Now, I don't care. As Arun puts it, If I cannot write about my feelings in My blog , who can??? The second time was my neighbour...we interacted at first with a few messages. Then, she wanted to meet me (her bro was out of station). I went to her office and from there, went to CCD. She had a cold coffee (Cold Sparkle if I remember...

Musings about Management

Time Management is one thing where in I always used to fail. Note that I used to fail and now...I am much better faring in this aspect. I have learnt to keep up to my commitments and be on time to any appointment. Unlike the traditional Indian who feels that it is quite normal if you enter a party at a time where in the last rites of the party is being conducted i.e., all the guests are ready for dinner or a few of them already have had dinner and on their way to the parking lot, when you announce your arrival in by either : Loudly speaking out by exclaiming that "Party Over So Soon!!!!!" Honking in the parking lot where another guest is taking his Car out and you are just going to park it. Exclaiming abt a Traffic Jam (though you might not have got delayed even by a min in any traffic signal!!! ) While surfing the blognet (internet of blogs), I got this site which has an article abt Time Management . This Article gives a few instructions or ideas by which you can manage your...

Saying No whenever needed

While I was going through another blog selected at random from my list of blogs, I got to see this article . I too have faced this problem of not being able to say no whenever it is required. Even to this date, I am not able to refuse anything and I will take pains to see that it is completed to their satisfaction. I had a feeling that this has got something to do with my psychology. I did not bother to consult anyone with this. A few friends of mine suggested me to start saying no to people but I just was unable to do so. I was thinking that when I try and take pains and complete the work to the other's satisfaction, May be that other person would be friendly towards me and would start interacting with me. I was proved wrong time and again...You take pains to complete some stupid work of some idiot...the idiot comes back to you only to get some other work done, which is not possible by him/her to solve. I never realised my mistake. After reading this article, I will start and try ...

Quote - Unquote :-)

Hard work spotlights the character of people. Some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all. Laugh and the world thinks you're an idiot. Do you have the guts!!!

I am posting a letter which I had received in the form of an email. This one is too good....The manager's happiness has been literally screwed. I do not know how many ppl will agree with me, but this surely is a dare step by Suresh. Ok...Here goes.... Hi Mr.Sanjeev, how are you?, I don't have to ask you this,24 Hours could not have changed you much,u would still be the same pathetic midget. Yesterday wasn't one of the best days of my life,i was too happy to get out of that freaking team of yours, but just that i didn't blast you as much as i wanted to.One reason was that i wasn't quite prepared, thats fine i can still insult you, even though u cannot comprehend everything am going to say(have said) in this mail,u'll be able to understand that this is a bash mail mean't to make u realize what you really are, certainly you'll forget about this mail or would force yourself to forget this mail as soon as possible, but as u go down reading this mail,u'll start ...

My take on Firangs

I share the same opinion of Karthik . I feel that the Govt of India does not bother abt the expenses the people incur to visit India and take a look of its good culture, which, no doubt the Govt boasts of. No matter who heads the Govt, which party or which person, this sort of exploitation continues. I remember the movie 16 December. This movie had a theme which was good, but far from truth. This movie dealt with financial scams and stuff like that...internal terrorism. If the Govt can take a few hints from this movie and try to put curbs on corruption and embezzlement of funds from its own employees (of Govt organisations like RTO and local municipalities), then, it can go a long way and help the upkeeping of the cultural symbols. I recently had visited Hampi and got to know that the Govt had planned to renovate the ruins of Hampi. This, according to me, is a bad plan. Hampi is reknowned to the world as a place of ruins and it shows how the culture, the sculpture and the prosperity of...
