Mysore Trip - II

Well, there are a few things which you feel like doing and you end up doing it in a way which is not satisfying! This trip to Mysore was one of them. Anyday, I'd love to ride down to Mysore. The first trip took 3 hrs while going and 3 hrs 45 mins while returning to Bangalore. The second trip was much better.. Took just 2 hrs while going and 2 hrs while returning. The best part of the ride was that we (me and NP) rode at a modest speed of 90 kmph both ways and took a 15 min break at Maddur (the so-called half way point b/n Bangalore and Mysore). Close to sixty years after independence, we still have more than two hundred million people who are very poor. This is a matter of shame. The need for affirmative action is unquestionable. Caste-based reservations might have been valid in the fifties where there might have been an affinity between depressed castes and their economic status. Is it true today? Do we have supporting data?
