Now, that's called team work!!!

Today, I had an amazing experience. I never had thought that I would be able to view and observe team work and leadership together at such close quarters. What happened was:

I had to come to Majestic (The bus station of Bangalore) and catch the bus. There are three buses from Majestic to Infy. One of the normal buses (Regn # 2598) had not come. Instead of that, another bus, whose driver was not familiar with Infy routes and Infy pick up methods, was assigned.

I climbed a bus (Regn # 3376) as I had heard that this bus driver drives fast and safe. The buses started, ours first and the new one second. B4 we left, an instruction was given to the new one to follow our bus, stop wherever our bus stopped, pick up ppl whomever our bus sent to it and continue following our bus to the Infy campus.

At each stop where we had to pick up our colleagues, our bus stopped, asked the employees who were standing there in the pick up point to board the bus coming behind. Our bus driver did not bother about the time delay or the prospective traffic jams which might occur in the Hosur Road, further delaying us to reach the office. Our bus driver did not even bother about what the other employees in our bus might say for these actions of his. We followed the same pattern till the time that we crossed Koramangala and came across another Infosys Bus. On seeing the other Infosys bus, our driver started driving well and did not stop anywhere else. Guess, he assumed that all the employees would be picked up by the other Infosys Buses.

Anyway, I just adored his spirit of team work and leadership. It is very rare that you see two BMTC Bus Drivers helping each other. Actually, you might always have seen them abusing each other, competing with each other as to who’s going to reach earlier, stopping their buses in a way that the other bus will not be able to move, stealing passengers from the other buses (i.e., stopping early or stopping across or just jumping a few stops), jumping lanes, going very close to the other buses so that the other buses stop just for the sake of avoiding an accident. Today morning’s incident was really an eye opener for the Team Spirit and the leadership abilities of the driver.

I dunno if such team work or leadership can be seen in an organization. No matter what the circumstances is, no matter what problems you are going to face in future, will you go beyond your limits and help anyone else, be it your competitor or just your colleague? Even if you do so, will this be remembered and will your colleague be thankful? Even if your colleague is thankful, will you be benefited in any way from your exemplary display of teamwork and dedication? I don’t think so. I don’t think many will do the first task of going beyond their limits to help. Some might do so but I don’t think that the task would be recollected by others. Some might recollect that help only while approaching you for future help. I am sure that your exemplary actions will not be recognized in any way by your organization.

Yo, the thing made no sense at all. This what I could make out of your decription:
1. Two buses, one right behind the other.
2. You were riding in the front one.
3. The other bus had a new driver who didn't know how the whole pick up business works.
4. So your bus driver was supposed to guide him and all.

It gets complicated from this point onwards. Your bus driver would stop at each pick up point, and direct the waiting passengers to the other bus ? Why ? Was your bus full ?
And why did stop doing that when he saw another Infy bus ? Did he expect the other bus driver to guide the rookie like he was doing ?

Secularism -- Majority and Minority

This post is not dedicated to anyone and is just a forwarded email which has been copied and pasted over here... and i am forced to assume that this is the truth! I had posted earlier on the same topic and here i go again! Talking abt majority and minority as a part of the comments in my previous post, i was forced to put this in points below: 1. Do you consider that - Sanskrit is communal and Urdu is secular, Mandir is Communal and Masjid is Secular, Sadhu is Communal and Imam is secular,VandeMatharam is communal and Allah-O-Akbar is secular, Shriman is communal and Mian is secular, Hinduism is Communal and Islam is Secular? 2. Why Godhra is blown out of proportion, when no-one talks of the ethnic cleansing of 4 lakh Hindus from Kashmir? 3. When Christian and Muslim schools can teach Bible and Quran, Why Hindus cannot teach Gita in our schools? 4. When Haj pilgrims are given subsidy, why Hindu pilgrims to Amarnath, Sabarimalai & Kailash Mansarovar are taxed? 5. If Muslims & C...

The Truth - "Kannada Barutha"??? Kannada barbeku!

"Kannada Barutha??", ah! I am sure most of you in Bangalore would have heard this, but what is "kannada barutha?" here it goes. Bangalore the IT capital of India , the silicon city and now a Metro city opened its gates to almost all kinds of people. Very evidently the recent poll census proved that there are only 47% of original inhabitants in Bangalore/bengaluru. The life style of the city has seen a gradual change with Pizza Corners replacing MTR's, classy eat out's replacing "Vidyarthi Bhavans" and flashy pub's replacing all our "Mahalakshmi wine shops". "Change is inevitable" from the days of BEML, HAL and BHEL to INFOSYS, WIPRO; Bangalore has a new look now on the world map. Gone are the days where a typical Sunday for any bangalorean was a nice romantic walk on the pavements of "LALBAGH...", "rave idli and coffee.." at the nearest yet old looking MTR and a wonderful Annavra film either at Santosh o...

Love or Infatuation

Infatuation is instant desire. It is one set of glands calling to another. Love, on the other hand, is friendship that has caught fire. It takes root and grows - one day at a time. Infatuation is marked by a feeling of insecurity, you are excited and eager, but not genuinely happy. There are nagging doubts, unanswered questions, little bits and pieces about your beloved that you would just as soon not examine too closely. It might spoil the dream. Love is the quiet understanding and mature acceptance of imperfection. It is real, it gives you strength and grows beyond you - to bolster your beloved. You are warned by his/her presence, even when is away. Long distances do not separate you. You want him/her near, but near or far, you know he/she is yours and you can wait. Infatuation says, "We must get married right away. I can't risk losing him/her." Love says, "Be patient, Don't Panic. He/she is yours. Plan your future with confidence." Infatuation...
