Five Books That Mean a Lot to Me:

1. Muslim (Kannada by Ravi Belegare): Probably the best analysis I’ve ever got to read about the Culture, Tradition and practices of the Muslims of Afghanistan. Though many people feel that by the name, this book is something like an insight into the entire religion, this book is all about the Afghan War and the struggle of the Muslims in that country.

2. The Himalayan Blunder (by Col. John P. Dalvi): This Book is an insight into India’s worst war defeat. This book provides a detailed description of the politician’s apathy towards the defense personnel and the red-tapeness of the Govt. of India under Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. Reading of this book was one of the best things that happened to me. I got to know a lot about the problems these defense personnel face, both physically and mentally.

3. Still me (by Christopher Reeve): I can never forget this book just for the reason that this gave me a shudder. I face the same problem that Christopher Reeve had faced. This is the autobiography of the Superman guy (Christopher Reeve). Reeve had a collapsed disc in C1 and C2, I have a collapsed disc in C5,C6 and C7.

4. Vedic Mathematics (By Sri. Bharati Krishna Tirthaji Maharaj): This book ought to be read by every MBA/IAS aspirant. This book provides 16 easy steps (sulabh sutras) for solving the toughest of mathematical problems, from algebra to arithmetic, from geometry to trigonometry.

5. Sherlock Holmes (Complete works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle with original illustrations by Sidney Paige): The complete set of Sherlock Holmes, including the short stories, the serials which were published in the famous newspaper (I’m unable to recollect the name) with the original illustrations by Sidney Paige which gave Holmes his trademark Cigar and the Cap.

Secularism -- Majority and Minority

This post is not dedicated to anyone and is just a forwarded email which has been copied and pasted over here... and i am forced to assume that this is the truth! I had posted earlier on the same topic and here i go again! Talking abt majority and minority as a part of the comments in my previous post, i was forced to put this in points below: 1. Do you consider that - Sanskrit is communal and Urdu is secular, Mandir is Communal and Masjid is Secular, Sadhu is Communal and Imam is secular,VandeMatharam is communal and Allah-O-Akbar is secular, Shriman is communal and Mian is secular, Hinduism is Communal and Islam is Secular? 2. Why Godhra is blown out of proportion, when no-one talks of the ethnic cleansing of 4 lakh Hindus from Kashmir? 3. When Christian and Muslim schools can teach Bible and Quran, Why Hindus cannot teach Gita in our schools? 4. When Haj pilgrims are given subsidy, why Hindu pilgrims to Amarnath, Sabarimalai & Kailash Mansarovar are taxed? 5. If Muslims & C...

The Truth - "Kannada Barutha"??? Kannada barbeku!

"Kannada Barutha??", ah! I am sure most of you in Bangalore would have heard this, but what is "kannada barutha?" here it goes. Bangalore the IT capital of India , the silicon city and now a Metro city opened its gates to almost all kinds of people. Very evidently the recent poll census proved that there are only 47% of original inhabitants in Bangalore/bengaluru. The life style of the city has seen a gradual change with Pizza Corners replacing MTR's, classy eat out's replacing "Vidyarthi Bhavans" and flashy pub's replacing all our "Mahalakshmi wine shops". "Change is inevitable" from the days of BEML, HAL and BHEL to INFOSYS, WIPRO; Bangalore has a new look now on the world map. Gone are the days where a typical Sunday for any bangalorean was a nice romantic walk on the pavements of "LALBAGH...", "rave idli and coffee.." at the nearest yet old looking MTR and a wonderful Annavra film either at Santosh o...

Love or Infatuation

Infatuation is instant desire. It is one set of glands calling to another. Love, on the other hand, is friendship that has caught fire. It takes root and grows - one day at a time. Infatuation is marked by a feeling of insecurity, you are excited and eager, but not genuinely happy. There are nagging doubts, unanswered questions, little bits and pieces about your beloved that you would just as soon not examine too closely. It might spoil the dream. Love is the quiet understanding and mature acceptance of imperfection. It is real, it gives you strength and grows beyond you - to bolster your beloved. You are warned by his/her presence, even when is away. Long distances do not separate you. You want him/her near, but near or far, you know he/she is yours and you can wait. Infatuation says, "We must get married right away. I can't risk losing him/her." Love says, "Be patient, Don't Panic. He/she is yours. Plan your future with confidence." Infatuation...
