Here's my two cents on last evenings terror attacks on Bangalore's famed IISc Campus.
Agreed that it is a terror attack in one of the most peaceful places in Bangalore. IISc is a place which is never (well almost never) in the news. So, there was certainly a lack of security in the place.
Last night, on the news, it was being told that this was one of the top 10 learning centres in the world and that this was on the terrorist hit list. So, it is evident that there had to be atleast some security at this place. This was clear negligence on the part of the Government.
Also, being in Bangalore, the CM of our state organised an "Emergency" meeting at today morning 10 AM. The Home Secretary's office in Delhi had a meeting convened by 9:30 PM last night in North Block regarding this issue. That is what actually irritated me. Our CM who celebrated his 70th birthday on the day of Christmas has taken this issue lightly.
During the subsequent days of the Delhi Blasts, our CM had announced in a press conferance that the terrorists had taken shelter in Bangalore. What is the action that he took about this??? Terrorism has continued....
Bangalore has been in the news for all the wrong reasons these days.. firstly for the brutal rape and murder of a BPO employee of HP of Electronics City (Prathibha) and now, this.... What's happening to our beloved city??? Anybody listening???

Thanks for showing concern! And for the phone call! Its been quite a new year weekend, with police visiting NCBS to check whether all was well, and the arrangements were OK and so on for a conference tommorow. Aaaahhh, the natural "security" that we had assumed to be synonymous with research institutes is sadly gone with the winds of change...
