Blank Noise

You might be knowing about this project named 'Blank Noise Project' dealing with Street Harassment.

Harassment: The actual meaning of this term is: Tormenting by continued persistent attacks and criticism

So, harassment is not only physical in nature but also psychological... Alas... it is a pity that many of us don't know this!!

Many a times, in the past, I have stared at girls, not because I felt so, but because all my age members were doing so... I never thought that it will be a form of harassment to the girls... When I initially felt bad when my 'friends' and 'classmates' stared at girls, they told me that 'As per William Wordsworth, a thing of beauty is a joy forever'

Of late, from when I got to know of this project, I have considerably reduced looking at girls... I don't want to be known as a 'Tormentor'. I have an elder sister, a mom, and have been grown up along with girls, cousins, friends and others and now I realise how cruel this harassment is...

If at all, I have, unknown to me, harassed anyone, I apologise for the same wholeheartedly.

Most often, I have tried stopping my 'friends', 'colleagues' and 'ex-classmates' from doing this kind of harassment... Now, I am ashamed to call them as 'friends' or 'colleagues'. That's the reason the quotes have been mentioned.

In my childhood, there was this lecherous bastard in my neighbourhood who wanted all female kids on his lap and was getting physical with them... My sister was, alas, one among them who was abused by this guy... and what could I do??? I was 6 years at that time and my sister was 12. The only thing that I did to take my revenge for that act of his happened last year.. I went to my native place and noticed that this guy had bought a new car... and immediately, I damaged his car in front of his eyes and he could not do anything. I liked the helpless look that came in his face... felt some sadistic satisfaction after doing that.

Now, thinking back on this, I don't know whether I had to leave him at that or take more actions on the same...

I completely support this project and kudos to Jasmeen for bringing this front... Jasmeen, keep up the good work.

Secularism -- Majority and Minority

This post is not dedicated to anyone and is just a forwarded email which has been copied and pasted over here... and i am forced to assume that this is the truth! I had posted earlier on the same topic and here i go again! Talking abt majority and minority as a part of the comments in my previous post, i was forced to put this in points below: 1. Do you consider that - Sanskrit is communal and Urdu is secular, Mandir is Communal and Masjid is Secular, Sadhu is Communal and Imam is secular,VandeMatharam is communal and Allah-O-Akbar is secular, Shriman is communal and Mian is secular, Hinduism is Communal and Islam is Secular? 2. Why Godhra is blown out of proportion, when no-one talks of the ethnic cleansing of 4 lakh Hindus from Kashmir? 3. When Christian and Muslim schools can teach Bible and Quran, Why Hindus cannot teach Gita in our schools? 4. When Haj pilgrims are given subsidy, why Hindu pilgrims to Amarnath, Sabarimalai & Kailash Mansarovar are taxed? 5. If Muslims & C...

The Truth - "Kannada Barutha"??? Kannada barbeku!

"Kannada Barutha??", ah! I am sure most of you in Bangalore would have heard this, but what is "kannada barutha?" here it goes. Bangalore the IT capital of India , the silicon city and now a Metro city opened its gates to almost all kinds of people. Very evidently the recent poll census proved that there are only 47% of original inhabitants in Bangalore/bengaluru. The life style of the city has seen a gradual change with Pizza Corners replacing MTR's, classy eat out's replacing "Vidyarthi Bhavans" and flashy pub's replacing all our "Mahalakshmi wine shops". "Change is inevitable" from the days of BEML, HAL and BHEL to INFOSYS, WIPRO; Bangalore has a new look now on the world map. Gone are the days where a typical Sunday for any bangalorean was a nice romantic walk on the pavements of "LALBAGH...", "rave idli and coffee.." at the nearest yet old looking MTR and a wonderful Annavra film either at Santosh o...

Love or Infatuation

Infatuation is instant desire. It is one set of glands calling to another. Love, on the other hand, is friendship that has caught fire. It takes root and grows - one day at a time. Infatuation is marked by a feeling of insecurity, you are excited and eager, but not genuinely happy. There are nagging doubts, unanswered questions, little bits and pieces about your beloved that you would just as soon not examine too closely. It might spoil the dream. Love is the quiet understanding and mature acceptance of imperfection. It is real, it gives you strength and grows beyond you - to bolster your beloved. You are warned by his/her presence, even when is away. Long distances do not separate you. You want him/her near, but near or far, you know he/she is yours and you can wait. Infatuation says, "We must get married right away. I can't risk losing him/her." Love says, "Be patient, Don't Panic. He/she is yours. Plan your future with confidence." Infatuation...
