Secularism -- Majority and Minority

This post is not dedicated to anyone and is just a forwarded email which has been copied and pasted over here... and i am forced to assume that this is the truth!

I had posted earlier on the same topic and here i go again!

Talking abt majority and minority as a part of the comments in my previous post, i was forced to put this in points below:

1. Do you consider that - Sanskrit is communal and Urdu is secular, Mandir is Communal and Masjid is Secular, Sadhu is Communal and Imam is secular,VandeMatharam is communal and Allah-O-Akbar is secular, Shriman is communal and Mian is secular, Hinduism is Communal and Islam is Secular?

2. Why Godhra is blown out of proportion, when no-one talks of the ethnic cleansing of 4 lakh Hindus from Kashmir?

3. When Christian and Muslim schools can teach Bible and Quran, Why Hindus cannot teach Gita in our schools?

4. When Haj pilgrims are given subsidy, why Hindu pilgrims to Amarnath, Sabarimalai & Kailash Mansarovar are taxed?

5. If Muslims & Christians are minorities in Maharashtra, UP, Bihar etc., are Hindus not minorities in J&K, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya etc? Why are Hindus denied minority rights in these states?

6. When Hindus gave to Muslims 30% of Bharat for a song, why should Hindus now beg for their sacred places at Ayodhya, Mathura And Kashi?

7. In India today Hindus are 85%. If Hindus are intolerant, how come Masjids and madrasas are thriving? How come Muslims are offering Namaz on the road? How come Muslims are proclaiming 5 times a day on loud speakers that there is no God except Allah?

8. There are nearly 52 Muslim countries. Show one Muslim country which provides Haj subsidy.

9. Show one Muslim country where Hindus are extended the special rights that Muslims are accorded in India?

10. Show one country where the 85% majority craves for the indulgence of the 15% minority.

11. Show one Muslim country, which has a Non-Muslim as its President or Prime Minister.

12. Show one Mullah or Maulvi who has declared a 'fatwa' against terrorists.

13. Hindu-majority Maharashtra, Bihar, Kerala, Pondicherry , etc. have in the past elected Muslims as CM’s, Can you ever imagine a Hindu becoming the CM of Muslim - majority J&K?

14. In 1947, when India was partitioned, the Hindu population in Pakistan was about 24%. Today it is not even 1%. In 1947, the Hindu population in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) was 30%. Today it is about 7%. What happened to the missing Hindus? Do Hindus have human rights?

15. In contrast, in India, Muslim population has gone up from 10.4% in 1951 to about 14% today whereas Hindu population has come down from 87.2% in 1951 to 85% in 1991. Do you still think that Hindus are fundamentalists?

And why do you feel that we are "showing off" our majority status and pointing at the "minorities" by celebrating our festivals??? Why are you ignoring the fact that we do celebrate the minority festivals too.. we do have christmas and easter get togethers, we do have social meetings on the occasions of ramzan, id and moharram where everyone participates.

Have you noticed one common thing amongst all terrorists? They are all hardcore islamists... Christians and Hindus are peace loving people and they follow a policy of forgive and forget... unless of course provoked! They don't get provoked easily but once provoked, they are not the ones that you can expect mercy from.. this was clearly shown in Godhra!

Hi,

First of all, it is quite surprising that in your blog you'd copy paste contents of a forwarded mail the source and authenticity of which is unknown to you...That highly prejudiced forward mail is a part of RSS / BJP's election campaign.

I wouldn't waste much of my energy here simply follow this link where you'll find 2 sets of answers to these questions.

http://india.indymedia.org/en/2004/04/209329.shtml

These questions are quite popular amongst majority of the youth in our country so I don't blame you for being mesmerized by the "revelation" whatever I have to express I'd do so on a detailed post on my blog.

but this statement, "Have you noticed one common thing amongst all terrorists? They are all hardcore islamists..."

What are you saying? Who is a terrorist first of all? Do you know all our freedom fighters were addressed as terrorist by the British Government. The great terrorism was posed by Bhagat Singh at that time. The Naxals who revolted against the Brahmin oppressors are also called terrorist. The Maoists are also called terrorists. For US some Russians have been terrorists.

All terrorist are Islamists?

They are not islamists, they are not NON Islamists. They are just that Terrorist. Some one who doesn't have respect for law and order and human lives for whatever right or wrong reasons.

@ Vicky

Before you spread something judge it's authenticity / worth etc. but hey if its just about getting hits to your blog then its fine... :)

Somehow I feel we bloggers have a bigger responsibility...we shouldn't not post / comment / support things we don't fully know about.

Sukumar please do read the answers on that link..

@ Sanjukta,

The disclaimer for the post says that it is a forwarded email.

Again, the "terrorists" that I am mentioning here is the names of terrorists coming these days in the news from Bin Laden to Mullah Omar Maulvi to Dawood Ibrahim - There is a list of terrorists which have been released by the "United States of America" and almost all the names are of Muslims.

Mind you, I have maintained very cordial friendships with a lot of muslim friends and this post has got nothing to do with me being a hindu and them a muslim or with India V/s Pakistan or some such idiotic thing.. This is just a forwarded mail which I felt like posting on MY BLOG!

Regarding your "social causes" for bloggers, I have a very narrow opinion for what social is.. As long as I don't cause harm to anyone and live by myself, I am a social being and am helping the society by not burdening it!

It is my blog, I can post anything I want and feel like posting..

@Sukumar

You missed the point...You ARE in fact causing harm...

Just as much harm people cause by gossiping or spreading rumors...

and if the result of such rumor is blood shed...

Like you know somebody came running and said, "You know what, those muslims burned the Hindu's in the train" and some one like you got provoked and said, "Is that so? Let's take revenge by killing all the Muslims."

The truth behind the fire no body knows till date...

And hey am only talking about a "social responsibility" nothing official about it..

You can always chose to be NOT responsible, selfish and narrow...totally your call :)

I don't know the objective behind copying and pasting a forwarded mail. Surely, if you wanted to share it, you could have just forwarded it.

Does seem that you've pasted it on your blog and added a footnote, the same way one would wrap a chunk of MG Road cowdung in a 1995 Deccan Herald edition. 'Coz that's what it is - a stupid, baseless and intense forward (which is certainly not worthy of existing as a forward, let alone a blog post).

Right, so you got your own blog, which entitles you to write whatever you want to, including pasting forwards and copying text-porn from your personal archives. Whatever makes you happy bro.

There ARE countries, incidentally, who offer Haj discounts. And factually, you are wrong. There's a difference between an Islamic country and a Secular country. As non-Muslims, we're WRONG to expect rights in a Muslim state. And Muslims are perfectly okay if they expect rights in a secular nation.

The "United States of America" have published a list, whose rear you seem to be licking. Do you know what terrorism means? Bhagat Singh, my friend, is a terrorist.

Every coin has two sides. You can't bind yourself to one side and sit back and think, 'okay, I'm fine.'

Are you interested in solving the problem or exploding it? If it's the latter, a job well done bro. If it's the former, you're failing miserably.

Just my two cents.

Liked this statement.. I wish to drag your attention to the book of Hussein Zaidi (Black Friday) in which he points out a few facts that due to Ayodhya and Bombay Riots, the blasts in Bombay took place.

I am, here, not supporting VHP or BJP or RSS or any such faction. I just posted this from a forwarded email... And again, my disclaimer for the entire blog says "posting mails which I like"

Wish we could stop the discussion here on this blog post! Pls.........

@ Sandil,

Thanks for dropping by dude.. and giving me your two cents worth of gyaan.. lemme keep these things in my mind for future posts!

The Truth - "Kannada Barutha"??? Kannada barbeku!

"Kannada Barutha??", ah! I am sure most of you in Bangalore would have heard this, but what is "kannada barutha?" here it goes. Bangalore the IT capital of India , the silicon city and now a Metro city opened its gates to almost all kinds of people. Very evidently the recent poll census proved that there are only 47% of original inhabitants in Bangalore/bengaluru. The life style of the city has seen a gradual change with Pizza Corners replacing MTR's, classy eat out's replacing "Vidyarthi Bhavans" and flashy pub's replacing all our "Mahalakshmi wine shops". "Change is inevitable" from the days of BEML, HAL and BHEL to INFOSYS, WIPRO; Bangalore has a new look now on the world map. Gone are the days where a typical Sunday for any bangalorean was a nice romantic walk on the pavements of "LALBAGH...", "rave idli and coffee.." at the nearest yet old looking MTR and a wonderful Annavra film either at Santosh o...

Love or Infatuation

Infatuation is instant desire. It is one set of glands calling to another. Love, on the other hand, is friendship that has caught fire. It takes root and grows - one day at a time. Infatuation is marked by a feeling of insecurity, you are excited and eager, but not genuinely happy. There are nagging doubts, unanswered questions, little bits and pieces about your beloved that you would just as soon not examine too closely. It might spoil the dream. Love is the quiet understanding and mature acceptance of imperfection. It is real, it gives you strength and grows beyond you - to bolster your beloved. You are warned by his/her presence, even when is away. Long distances do not separate you. You want him/her near, but near or far, you know he/she is yours and you can wait. Infatuation says, "We must get married right away. I can't risk losing him/her." Love says, "Be patient, Don't Panic. He/she is yours. Plan your future with confidence." Infatuation...
