History and its interpretations

I had earlier made a post on secularism... How stupid I was then... I had not bothered to verify the same. Now, recently, I finished reading a book abt Nathuram Godse and Mahatma Gandhi. In this book, the author had dealt with both these personalities and had pointed out how good they both were and how equally stupid their decisions were which led to the death of both these people.

I earlier, would not have pointed to Mahatma Gandhi as "Mahatma" but this book made me realise how much of a good person he was and I have started calling him "Mahatma". This does not mean I am his fan and definitely does not mean that I was hating him earlier.

Mistakes happen by everyone and by LEADERS, mistakes make more damage. To Err is Human.. and LEADERS are Human too..

Putting myself in their shoes by reading about them and trying to imagine what I might have done in their place if I was having such a situation and none else to cater to it, I might have taken the same decisions that they have taken.

An Indian book will describe how GORY the Partition was to India and how the trains were full of dead bodies and how much blood was shed.. But a Pakistani book also describes the same way... Casualties have happened there too.. So, it is meaningless to say that we have had more damage than them or they are bad people or some such thing.

Even they are humans and so are we. Even they were angered by the Partition and so were we. Even they felt enraged when they saw their kith and kin being butchered by Indians and took their toll on us.

There are these religious parties like VHP, RSS, BJP, Bajrang dal, Shiv Sena etc which are trying to tarnish the image of Congress Leaders like Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi etc by pointing out some incidents of their personal life and by glorifying their mistakes. The question is, why are these being brought about now and why were these not pointed out then when the mistakes were being committed? Now, it is safe to point out their mistakes that they are all dead and there is no way that these can be verified. I also read somewhere that Sonia Gandhi was a KGB spy when she met Rajiv Gandhi.. What bullshit???

I am no fan of politics and every party has the same amount of bastards as they have leaders. Let us not forget that Congress was the only party which was capable of forming a few policies immediately after Independence so that we do not go haywire. And it was due to the planning of Nehru, Indira and others that we were able to gain to atleast some place in the eyes of the other countries of the World.

At the same time, even though they were leaders of the party, it should also be blamed on the party for letting them carry on in whatever ways they want and tarnishing their own images as well as bringing a bad name to the party.

If it were not for the five year plans that probably we would never have achieved "all round progress" and again, if it were not to be the opening of the Indian markets for FDIs' that we would definitely not have got any international brands and we would definitely not have been as renowned as we are today in the field of IT!

So, guys, let us please open up our eyes and view history from a neutral perspective and not keep "crying over spilt milk". And instead of narrowing our mindsets and viewpoints to India and Pakistan and about the Kashmir conflict, let us think about how we can contribute to make the world a better place.

And we've got to do that only by first cleaning out our own backyards and then, we could boldly point to a neighbour's backyard!!

Secularism -- Majority and Minority

This post is not dedicated to anyone and is just a forwarded email which has been copied and pasted over here... and i am forced to assume that this is the truth! I had posted earlier on the same topic and here i go again! Talking abt majority and minority as a part of the comments in my previous post, i was forced to put this in points below: 1. Do you consider that - Sanskrit is communal and Urdu is secular, Mandir is Communal and Masjid is Secular, Sadhu is Communal and Imam is secular,VandeMatharam is communal and Allah-O-Akbar is secular, Shriman is communal and Mian is secular, Hinduism is Communal and Islam is Secular? 2. Why Godhra is blown out of proportion, when no-one talks of the ethnic cleansing of 4 lakh Hindus from Kashmir? 3. When Christian and Muslim schools can teach Bible and Quran, Why Hindus cannot teach Gita in our schools? 4. When Haj pilgrims are given subsidy, why Hindu pilgrims to Amarnath, Sabarimalai & Kailash Mansarovar are taxed? 5. If Muslims & C...

The Truth - "Kannada Barutha"??? Kannada barbeku!

"Kannada Barutha??", ah! I am sure most of you in Bangalore would have heard this, but what is "kannada barutha?" here it goes. Bangalore the IT capital of India , the silicon city and now a Metro city opened its gates to almost all kinds of people. Very evidently the recent poll census proved that there are only 47% of original inhabitants in Bangalore/bengaluru. The life style of the city has seen a gradual change with Pizza Corners replacing MTR's, classy eat out's replacing "Vidyarthi Bhavans" and flashy pub's replacing all our "Mahalakshmi wine shops". "Change is inevitable" from the days of BEML, HAL and BHEL to INFOSYS, WIPRO; Bangalore has a new look now on the world map. Gone are the days where a typical Sunday for any bangalorean was a nice romantic walk on the pavements of "LALBAGH...", "rave idli and coffee.." at the nearest yet old looking MTR and a wonderful Annavra film either at Santosh o...

Love or Infatuation

Infatuation is instant desire. It is one set of glands calling to another. Love, on the other hand, is friendship that has caught fire. It takes root and grows - one day at a time. Infatuation is marked by a feeling of insecurity, you are excited and eager, but not genuinely happy. There are nagging doubts, unanswered questions, little bits and pieces about your beloved that you would just as soon not examine too closely. It might spoil the dream. Love is the quiet understanding and mature acceptance of imperfection. It is real, it gives you strength and grows beyond you - to bolster your beloved. You are warned by his/her presence, even when is away. Long distances do not separate you. You want him/her near, but near or far, you know he/she is yours and you can wait. Infatuation says, "We must get married right away. I can't risk losing him/her." Love says, "Be patient, Don't Panic. He/she is yours. Plan your future with confidence." Infatuation...
