I'm sure many would agree with me that the thing that two-wheelers dread while riding bikes after hours is the blazing headlights of vehicles approaching them! My daily route back home @ 11PM is two-ways through and through, not properly lit and with all vehicles approaching me and very few driving in the same direction as I am! The reasons why I dread late-night driving/riding are:
- Innumerable Potholes on the road which go by unnoticed till the last moment, causing extensive damage to your bike as well as to your back!
- Mindless humans crossing the roads without bothering to check for any approaching traffic and with an air of extreme confidence that none would cause them hurt
- Stray Dogs, either sleeping on the roads or chasing two-wheelers or scavenging for food near garbage bins or chasing another stray dog, either for mating or for displaying their territorial aggression.
Now, if a human comes in front of your vehicle, chances are that both of you stop, glare at each other and have a war of words, you bang into him, have a war of words and probably leading to physical blows, but at the end of the day, it is no grievous injuries to anyone.
But if it is a canine (K9) coming in front of your vehicle, chances are that you would not even have noticed that and you ride over it or bang into it or get a huge shudder coz it would immediately have glared its teeth against you for riding so close to it and invading its privacy. Worst of all, many a dog might have broken its leg and would limp for some months, but the rider would have suffered head injuries or even death.
The reason I am typing this blog post is to point out that DOGS are better off when they are PETS and not good as STRAYS. This is exactly opposite to what Tamanna says here.
