Mumbai... Yeh kyaa huaa???

Today, I get an email mentioning "Mumbai Saaf Karo". Though this email was about the cleansing of Mumbai's subways from the stink and the garbage, I had made an assumption that this was related to the halla-gulla that is happening in Aamchi Mumbai, with the rift between Mumbaikars and North Indians.

There have been quite some incidents in Bangalore and quite a lot of arguments amongst my friends and colleagues about North Indians and South Indians. Arrey bhai, we first belong to INDIA and then, to our houses.. and not to any state in particular. States have been created only for the sake of ease in administration of policies and not to create a rift between Indians. We still should be UNITED in spite of all DIVERSE ways of life. UNITY IN DIVERSITY.

Like the dialogue in the movie ChakDe, "Mujhe koi mulk yaa state ka naam nahi sunayi deta hai, mujhe toh sirf ek naam sunayi deta hai aur woh hai INDIA"... I might not be exactly correct in the dialogue rendering, but it goes something like that.

The thing that struck me most was the coverage in TIMES NOW channel which showed a group of hooligans hitting and kicking a poor panipuri vendor just coz he was a non-mumbaikar or a non-maharashtrian for that matter. Also, there have been quite a lot of taxi's damaged and their drivers assaulted coz they have chosen to make their living in this amazing place. What were the journalists doing then? Striving to take a good picture to earn their livelihood, no matter what happens to whom. What were the TV reporters / Cameramen doing? Running behind the hooligans to get an exclusive coverage and then, get their respective TRP Ratings high and not bothering to save the poor person who was getting thrashed.

We have shown to the world how Mumbai can be united in spirit when there were so many incidents of terror that has happened. We also bounced back when the serial blasts in the mumbai trains happened and displayed to the entire world how united we are in spirits. We did resume our normal lives in a very short span of time by putting the terrorists to shame. They wanted to wreck havoc in our lives but we did the same to their thoughts.

But the son of a political leader comments on such a sensitive topic about Mumbaikars and Non-Mumbaikars and we forget all our unity? Why?? Why should we not ignore these political leaders and start using them as they use us.. for personal gain???

Let me now speak about namma bengaluru. An autorickshaw driver assaults a female passenger. A reporter reaches the spot, but he is not taking any steps to save the female passenger. He comes into action only when a drunken man assaults him personally. What about the poor auto passenger? No one bothers about her? Everyone stands aside and watches the Tamasha?? What if the person was your neighbour or your family member? Would you have been the same person? Though the auto's registration number, the driver's name etc were all recorded, what actions did the police / government authorities take to prove that Bangalore is safe for commutation?

No wonder we are able to let our politicians to inject such narrow-mindedness into our already confused minds!!!

The Truth - "Kannada Barutha"??? Kannada barbeku!

"Kannada Barutha??", ah! I am sure most of you in Bangalore would have heard this, but what is "kannada barutha?" here it goes. Bangalore the IT capital of India , the silicon city and now a Metro city opened its gates to almost all kinds of people. Very evidently the recent poll census proved that there are only 47% of original inhabitants in Bangalore/bengaluru. The life style of the city has seen a gradual change with Pizza Corners replacing MTR's, classy eat out's replacing "Vidyarthi Bhavans" and flashy pub's replacing all our "Mahalakshmi wine shops". "Change is inevitable" from the days of BEML, HAL and BHEL to INFOSYS, WIPRO; Bangalore has a new look now on the world map. Gone are the days where a typical Sunday for any bangalorean was a nice romantic walk on the pavements of "LALBAGH...", "rave idli and coffee.." at the nearest yet old looking MTR and a wonderful Annavra film either at Santosh o

Love or Infatuation

Infatuation is instant desire. It is one set of glands calling to another. Love, on the other hand, is friendship that has caught fire. It takes root and grows - one day at a time. Infatuation is marked by a feeling of insecurity, you are excited and eager, but not genuinely happy. There are nagging doubts, unanswered questions, little bits and pieces about your beloved that you would just as soon not examine too closely. It might spoil the dream. Love is the quiet understanding and mature acceptance of imperfection. It is real, it gives you strength and grows beyond you - to bolster your beloved. You are warned by his/her presence, even when is away. Long distances do not separate you. You want him/her near, but near or far, you know he/she is yours and you can wait. Infatuation says, "We must get married right away. I can't risk losing him/her." Love says, "Be patient, Don't Panic. He/she is yours. Plan your future with confidence." Infatuation
